On April 22, 2010 El Paso County accepted ownership of Rainbow Falls, and MECA and Rainbow Falls was recently featured on KKTV's evening newscast.

Our Mission:

Manitou Environmental Citizens Action (MECA) is a non-profit organization committed to reconstructing, restoring, revitalizing, and preserving the historic, sacred, and natural beauty in and around Manitou Springs, CO

The Rainbow Falls Restoration is our first project. As MECA, our vision is to reclaim and revitalize Rainbow Falls as a natural attraction and recreation destination, providing a place where visiting families and citizens can gather to enjoy the natural beauty of Rainbow Falls and surrounding areas.

Our intention is to facilitate the involvement of citizens, local organizations and our government in creating this vision. Everyone benefits from this involvement and from the completion of this collective undertaking.
